We asked if we could spend their entire video budget traveling across the country. They said yes.
Granted, it wasn’t a very big budget -- we shot this on iPhones, point-and-shoots, and 5Ds. But when bolstered with our own love for our Alma Mater, and the surprising openness, generosity, and couch-surfability of the Alumni Network, it was enough.
We didn’t know what we were looking for until we’d found it. When we were students in college, Stanford was our identity. It was our home, our people, our passions. It was almost like a new parent. Then we graduated, left, and no longer belonged there any more. And they gave us this title: Alumni? We were looking for the answer to the question that sat deep in our stomachs after graduation: What was actually good about being an Alumni?
Turns out, there’s a lot that’s good. 380 hours of footage of good. Cutting it down to 4 minutes almost destroyed us. In the end it gave us a whole new way to love our school, and our new lives after it. We hope you enjoy.
